After 20 years as a programmer, I'm starting a new career as an engineer. I recently completed the Environmental Resources Engineering program at Humboldt State University.
I made the career change in order to work on problems that I find more meaningful. We face a number of challenges in the early 21st century, including climate change, water shortages, loss of forest land, species extinctions, loss of farmland, chemical pollutants, and many others. We have the means available to us to make progress on these problems, and I look forward to being part of the solution.
I am especially interested in the energy field, and am currently looking for a position in energy engineering, in either renewables or efficiency.
